FIRST THINGS FIRST: WHAT IS CORPORATE GIFTING?
Corporate gifting is really just using a gift to say something on behalf of your business.
Thanks for a great year. We appreciate the referral. Nice work. Congrats on the new house. Thanks for answering all of our emails.
It doesn't require a corporate office or 500 names on a spreadsheet. If you're sending a gift because of a professional relationship, congratulations. You're corporate gifting.
SHOULD YOU BE CORPORATE GIFTING?
Maybe. You certainly don't have to send gifts just because the holidays rolled around.
But think about the people who helped make your year what it was. If there’s someone on the other end of a business relationship worth thanking, recognizing or celebrating, that’s a pretty good reason to send something.
Here are a few common ways businesses gift with us:
-
Business owners thanking employees, clients, or vendors
-
Managers recognizing their team
-
Realtors and loan officers thanking clients and referral partners
-
Consultants, freelancers and agencies showing appreciation to clients
-
Sales teams recognizing important accounts or building relationships with potential clients.
And it doesn't have to be a huge list. Five important relationships count just as much as fifty.
In a Business.com survey of more than 1,500 professionals, 46% of recipients said receiving a year-end gift from a vendor made them more likely to continue working together.
OKAY. YOU'RE SENDING GIFTS. NOW WHAT?
Step 1: Make the list
Don't start with the gift. Start with the people.
Chances are, you already have the beginnings of a list. Check your CRM, ask HR for an employee list, or even scroll through your inbox.
