An inky appearance, boasting violet aromas with black fruit flavors of plum and cherry, this is a Petit Verdot lover's dream glass of wine.

Pairs well with

  • Vintage: 2020
  • Varietal: Petit Verdot
  • Appellation: Sonoma County
  • Alcohol: 15.0%

Expressive aromas of black cherry and plum leap from the glass, tinged with dried violet notes, a hint of licorice, and earth. Full-bodied, with intensity to the dark berry fruit, and very present, powerful tannins that resolve through savory flavors of dried fennel, sage, and rich earth character. Far too easy to drink. A perfect food pairing would be braised lamb shanks.

Sonoma County

This 2020 Pete's Petit Verdot comes from the 800-acre Rockpile Ranch in Sonoma, where vines are over 30 years of age, planted at high elevations above 2,000 feet. Due to the elevation, there is virtually no fog, allowing the vines increased exposure to the sun and decreased amounts of moisture resulting in complex and distinctive fruit. This small AVA is a valley bordered by the Mayacamas Mountains to the east and the Sonoma Mountains to the west. If you’re eating at the Glen Ellen Star in the town of Glen Ellen, you’re smack in the middle of the AVA. Established in 1981, Sonoma Valley was the first AVA recognized in Sonoma County, so it has seniority! A warm Mediterranean climate is ideal for growing ripe, bold, supple, and expressive wines.

    Nice wine

Good job for Petite Verdot. I typically do not like this grape. Nice fruit and rich and dark wine.
