This small AVA is a valley bordered by the Mayacamas Mountains to the east and the Sonoma Mountains to the west. If you’re eating at the Glen Ellen Star in the town of Glen Ellen, you’re smack in the middle of the AVA. Established in 1981, Sonoma Valley was the first AVA recognized in Sonoma County, so it has seniority! A warm Mediterranean climate is ideal for growing ripe, bold, supple, and expressive wines.
